Warrior FAQ

Help us fulfill our mission to support the recovery and family bonding of Wounded Warriors, Warrior spouses and caregivers and their children through the recreational therapy of snow sports by applying for our program!

When and where is the MAIN Event?

Since it began in 2011, our Main Event has been held at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Seven Springs, Pennsylvania. Other fund-raising and awarness events may be held throughout the year. Upcoming Events are listed on this websites Homepage.

What will it cost me?

Absolutely nothing.  If you are selected as a participant for our program, you and your family will be treated to an all-expense paid ski/snowboard vacation. We do this to provide opportunities for Wounded Warriors and Veterans to bond with their own families; connect with other similarly wounded Veterans and their families; and to honor the men and women who have sacrificed for their country. The vacation includes transportation to/from the event, meals, lodging, lift tickets, equipment rental, ski instruction and even ski/snowboard clothing and accessories. Recipients will also receive vouchers to enjoy other indoor and outdoor activities during the annual ski/snowboard event.

Do I have to know how to ski/snowboard?

No prior experience skiing or snowboarding is necessary. Instructors will be matched to you and your family based on your skill level. For those unable to use skis or snowboards in a conventional manner, specialized instruction and adaptive ski equipment are provided. Ski instructors and ski buddies work with individuals, families and groups to ensure everyone has as much time on snow during the week as possible.

Do I have to own skis/snowboard equipment?

No. If you and your family do not already have your own equipment, we will secure rental equipment for you.

Can you cope with my disability?

Most definitely. We have specialized instruction and adaptive equipment for nearly every type of physical ability.

Who can apply?

Any male or female member of any branch of the armed services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and National Guard) who is currently on active duty while receiving care for combat-related injuries or who has received a medical discharge including amputees, burns, TBI, PTSD or any service-related disability. You will be asked to show your military ID or a copy of your DD214.

Who can I bring to the Main Event?

You may bring your spouse, significant other, caregiver and/or any children over the age of five (5). Child care services and children’s activities are available for children over the age of five, should you choose to take advantage of them.

How do I get there?

Most applicants selected are within driving distance to the main event. Occasionally exceptions have been made. When you drive your own vehicle, we will reimburse you for mileage. If you are unable to drive, we will arrange round-trip transportation for you.
