Lewis E. Belcher, 88, of Highland Park, Camp Hill, died peacefully on Thursday, March 8, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.
He was a retired Claims Manager for General Accident Insurance Company. He served our country from 2/4/1943 until 1/20/1946 and was wounded in action on 3/20/1945 at Kaiserslautern, Germany. He was a veteran of WWII and the Battle of the Bulge serving as Tank Commander. He was the holder of the Purple Heart, the Belgian Croix de Guerve with Palm, the Luxembourg Liberation Medal, the European Theater Medal with three Battle Stars, as well as a number of additional decorations.
Lewis was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Camp Hill; Lower Allen VFW, New Cumberland American Legion, Camp Hill D.A.V. and the Battle of the Bulge Association. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, taking cruises, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Additionally, he was a Gold Medal winner in the Senior Olympic Games.
He was the widower of Marian L. (Meckley) Belcher and is survived by four daughters, Susan Hirshman and husband Edward of Camp Hill, Jeanne Davis and husband Randy of Mechanicsburg, Linda Benson and husband Jim of New Cumberland and Amy Belcher of Camp Hill; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Maugans, Renee Greenawalt, Jody Weidenhammer, Kristin Bingaman, Melissa Anderson, Suzanne Hansel and Sara Benson; and eleven great-grandchildren. His family wishes to thank his dear friend, Sarah Jane Basehore for the years of happiness and companionship they shared.

Richard W. "Termite" Johnson of New Cumberland, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 18th, 2014, at Harrisburg Hospital.
He retired from the DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pa, Fairview Twp.; was an Army Veteran of the Viet Nam War; a life member of both the American Legion Post 143, New Cumberland, and V.F.W. Post 7530, Lower Allen Twp.; a member of Mechanicsburg Club and the Fifth Ward Republican Club, Steelton. Born on October 18th, 1947, in Altoona, he was the son of the late Chester and Eunice Johnson. Termite was also preceded in death by a son, Travis W. Johnson.
Surviving are his fiancée, Bonnie L. Ward; a daughter, Jessica D. Crowley of Carlisle; a step daughter and her husband, Melissa and Mitch Kauffman of York Haven; a brother, Michael McGraw of Altoona; three sisters, Vivian Koeth of Cleveland, OH, Virginia Anderson of Audubon, NJ, and Debra Gougler of Glenolden; four grandchildren, Erika, Clayton, Reese and Jordan; many nieces and nephews

Jim was a proud supporter of the Wounded Warrior Patrol..
Burial with military honors was held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Twp.

Gardner R. “G.R.” Whitney, 94, of New Cumberland, died April 27th, 2015, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, PA..He retired as the co-owner/operator of Mountainside Ski and Sports, Mechanicsburg; a U.S. Air Force WWII Veteran having served thirty seven months in the United States Air Force Pacific Air Forces as a flight engineer on Boeing B-17 Bombers and B-24 Liberator Bombers. G.R. was an Elder and a member of Camp Hill Presbyterian Church; a member of V.F.W. Post 7415, New Cumberland; a former member of the National Ski Patrol, an Alumni Ski Patrol member and was the former Ski Patrol Director at Ski Roundtop, Lewisberry. He was an active volunteer with the Special Olympics, Area M as an Alpine Ski Coach. Born on October 12th, 1920, in Somerville, MA, he was the son of the late Ernest E. and Mildred (Gardner) Whitney. He was also preceded in death by a son, Richard E. Whitney.Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Wanda Lee (Smith) Whitney; his son and his wife, David E. and Patricia L. Whitney of Mechanicsburg; three grandchildren, Jonathan D. Whitney, Michelle W. Olsen and Amelia C. Whitney; four great grandchildren, Bauer, Lily, Bryce and Ember.Memorial services was held Camp Hill Presbyterian Church, Camp Hill, with the Rev. David A. Roquemore officiating. Inurnment with full military honors was at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA

MSGT (Ret) Glenn A. P. Raup

MSGT (Ret) Glenn A. P. Raup, PA Air National Guard, 71, of Carlisle, passed away on April 15, 2015 at the M. S. Hershey Medical Center. He was born on April 9, 1944 in Bellefonte, a son of the late Donald G. and Doris (Kennedy) Raup.
Glenn was a 1962 graduate of State College Area High School. He also attended Williamsport Technical School and the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Institute in Daytona, FL. Glenn retired from the Commonwealth of PA after 35 years of service and also retired as a Master Sergeant after 26 years of service with the PA Air National Guard. Glenn had worked nine years at Penn State University, where he was an aircraft mechanic, and retired from the PA Department of Transportation Bureau of Aviation.
He was of Lutheran faith. Glenn was an avid and skilled hunter and outdoorsman. He was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the Hoot Owl Hunting Club and P.A.M.A. Glenn also served on the Aviation Board at Penn College in Williamsport.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Annette L. (Lightner) Raup, one son, Christopher A. (wife, Jennifer) Raup of Carlisle, one daughter, Lisa M. (husband, Fredrik) Svard of Stockholm, Sweden, one brother, Carl (wife, Lana) Raup of State College, two grandchildren; Avery and Ella Svard, one niece, Stacey Saratelli and one nephew, Alex Raup.
His Interment with military honors was at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.

Edward Thomas "Tom" Fry

Edward Thomas "Tom" Fry, 70, of Enola passed away at the West Shore Hospital on November 13, 2015, surrounded by his wife and sons. Tom was the youngest son of the late George and Ann Fry. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Paulette, and daughter, Ruth Ann, a brother, John, and a sister, Barbara Hawk. Surviving are his wife Judy Germann Fry; his brother William and wife Elyzabeth Fry of Carlisle; a sister Virginia Beck of Georgia; two sons, Brad and wife Amy Fry, and Jeff Fry of Arizona; stepdaughter Stacy Lehman and George Stojkovich of Shippensburg; stepson Chet and wife Betsy Cohick of Palmyra; and grandchildren Noah and Taylor Fry, Kody Lehman; and Alex, Amanda, Becca and Dennis Cohick; along with many truly loved nieces and nephews. Tom was a graduate from East Pennsboro High School where played baseball, basketball and football, and participated in school plays. He graduated from Kings College with a Bachelor of Science degree. After college he joined the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War. He worked at the Dauphin Deposit Bank at Kline Village as a senior account manager. After leaving the bank, he joined the East Pennsboro Police Department where he served as a police officer for 27 years and as a detective for 24 of those years. First elected in 2003 and, then, re-elected in 2007, Tom served eight years as a member of the East Pennsboro Township Board of Commissioners. He was an active member of the West Fairview American Legion Post 984 and served two years as Commander of the post. Additionally, he was the president of the post's Board of Directors and a proud member of their Honor Guard. He was also a member of the Enola Sportsmen's Association and the VFW Post 7530. Tom was an organ donor, and because of this gift he will be giving eyesight to two people.

John Thomas Henderson

1926-2016

Henderson, John Thomas died at his home in Wellesley on April 23. He was born in Donora, Pennsylvania in 1926. He served with the 11th Armored Infantry Battalion in Europe during World War II where he met his wife Anneliese. He also served with the 65th Infantry Regiment in Korea. Decorations he earned included the CIB (Combat Infantry Badge), Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and the United Nations Korean Service Medal. His army career also included serving at Fort Leavenworth, Fort Benning and Fort Totten. Prior to his retirement in 1968, he served in the Office of the Chief of Staff and Secretary of the Army. Tom also earned graduate degrees in Education and Business while serving in the Army. After his retirement from the Army, Tom and Anneliese moved to Wellesley, in 1968, when he accepted a position with the Bank of Boston. Tom worked in the Finance Division and the Commercial Credit and Loan Operations, before retiring in 1989. In retirement Tom and Anneliese enjoyed supporting various arts and civics organizations and traveled extensively sharing the belief that the arts and travel can bring different cultures and countries together. He served for ten years as the president of the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra. He was a member of St. Andrew's Church, the order of the Scottish Clan, the Retired Officers Association, Nehoiden Golf Club, the Boston Ballet Benefactors Circle and a regular attendee of the Boston Symphony Friday afternoon performances. He and his wife were long time supporters of the Handel and Haydn Society and the Boston Lyric Opera. Tom is survived by his wife, Anneliese, children John and his wife Carolyn of New Cumberland, Pa. Katherine and her wife Alejandra of New York City and East Hampton, NY, Christine and her husband Stephen, and his beloved grandchildren, Jenna and her husband Alex, Joe, John and Thomas. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.

David G. Quidort

David G. Quidort, 81, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Pioneer, Ohio on July 30, 1935, grew up in Perrysburg, Ohio. He attended Miami of Ohio, graduated from The Ohio State University in 1958, and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Dave served in the US Army and was honorably discharged. He started his business career as a salesman for Norwalk Truck Lines and moved to Operations and Labor Relations. In 1965 he was hired by Hall's Motor Transit Co and was named Vice President of Industrial Relations. During his career he served on several boards of directors to various trucking and labor associations. He was National Chairman of the American Trucking Association. He retired from ABF Freight System in 1998. He was a longtime member of The Country Club of Harrisburg, where he enjoyed many rounds of golf with his friends. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his close friends for many years. He was a member of The West Shore Elks, Yellow Breeches Anglers Club, New Cumberland Boating and Fishing Club, Carlisle Fish and Game Club, and The Mechanicsburg Club. David was preceded in death by his parents, Lavadna and George Quidort and his wife, Ann B. Quidort. He is survived by two sons, David G. Quidort, Jr., his wife Deborah, and grandsons, Michael and Thomas of Apex, NC; and William T. Quidort, his wife Carolyn, and granddaughter, Jacqueline and grandson, Harrison of Mechanicsburg, PA.

George Lawrence Hannon, 82, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away 29 January 2018 at his home after a five month battle with ALS.
George was born 19 October 1935 in Frankfort, Kentucky, the son of the late George L. & Martha Howser Hannon.
He received a Bachelor of Science Degree and Master’s Degree in Civil engineering from the University of Kentucky. Following initial assignments in the highway construction field, he joined the Bureau of Public Roads (now the Federal Highway Administration) where he spent 31 years in various engineering, supervisory, and managerial positions and he served 15 years as Special Assistant to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commissioners using his expertise obtaining Federal funds and working on the National Environmental Policy Act.
George Hannon was a volunteer ski patroller for 42 years at Ski Roundtop and was Director for an unprecedented 15 year term. When he joined the NSP Alumni Program he was the Patrol's third most senior active volunteer patroller. He also served as President of the Susquehanna Ski and Snowboard Club (SSC), and had received its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.
George was inducted into the Pennsylvania Snow Sports Museum Hall of Fame in 2007. He served at the local, regional and division level of the NSP. George was the recipient of many NSP and local patrol awards, including NSP National Appointment # 6054, NSP Distinguished Service Award in 2000 and an NSP Meritorious Service Award. He received the Eastern Division Outstanding Administrative Patroller Award, Region and Divisional Outstanding Patroller Awards and the Eastern Pennsylvania Region Outstanding Service Award. George was NSP Outdoor Emergency Care Instructor and a former Eastern Division Senior OEC Trainer/Evaluator. George was a great mentor and advisor to many new patrollers.
George served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years, with two years of active duty. He was a board member and proud supporter of the Wounded Warrior Patrol and their involvement supporting the Veterans at the Lebanon VA Medical Center.
George was a boat owner since 1954 and was a member of the Baltimore Yacht Club and where he served as an officer for 10 years. He was also a member of the Pequea Waterski Club and the Susquehannock Power Squadron.
George is survived by his wife, Lynn Ann (Plenty) Hannon. His children: Debra Sue Hannon of York, Karen Leslie Hannon of East Berlin and Sandie Gaye Hannon Davis (Chris) of Dillsburg and their mother, Rosemary Fleming Durbeck of East Berlin. His grandchildren: Taylor Jorden Wire (LeeAnn Baum) of East Berlin, Trevor Lloyd Wire of Leavonworth, WA, Alexandra Rebecca Posner of York, George Lawrence Hannon V, Thomas Jacob Hannon, Eleanor Rose Hannon all of New Bloomfield, 2 step grandchildren Derek Davis (Kaesie Laudig) and Corinne Davis, 5 step-great-grandchildren Michael Ortiz, Kavian Brown, Dekaeda, Draek, Delaenie Davis. He was predeceased by his son, George L. Hannon, IV who was also a Ski Roundtop Patroller.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held 5 February 2018 at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Burial following the Mass was held in the Dillsburg Cemetery – Golf Course Road. An online guestbook can be found at www.cocklinfuneralhome.com
